casting news [the hobbit]

"I'm very pleased to be welcoming two new cast members to our team.

Dean O'Gorman will be playing Fili. Dean's a terrific Kiwi actor, who I am thrilled to be working with. He's recently been in an excellent TV series down here called "The Almighty Johnsons", and I should let fans of that show know that our shooting schedule allows Dean to continue with a second series next year. Dean will be joining us next week.

I'm also pleased to announce that Lee Pace will be playing the Elven King Thrandruil. Casting these Tolkien stories is very difficult, especially the Elven characters, and Lee has always been our first choice for Thrandruil. He's going to be great. We loved his performance in a movie called "The Fall" a few years ago, and have been hoping to work with him since. When we were first discussing who would be right for Thrandruil, Lee came into mind almost immediately.

It's been a great week, and I'm looking forward to the next few. It's going to be interesting ...

More soon.

Cheers,

Peter J"

Sony Reveals More Details On PlayStation Network Hack and Its Plans To Fix What Went Wrong

Sony Computer Entertainment has issued an update on last week's "external intrusion" on its PlayStation Network, an attack that forced the network offline and may have exposed the personal information of millions of members.

On the company's PlayStation.blog, senior director of corporate communications Patrick Seybold writes that the PlayStation maker will be "taking steps to make our services safer and more secure than ever before."

That includes "a new system software update that will require all users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored." Presumably, that software update will come to both the PSP and PlayStation 3 within the week. Currently, PSN accounts are locked out of the system, making a change to personal information and passwords impossible.

Furthermore, Sony says it is "initiating several measures that will significantly enhance all aspects of PlayStation Network's security and your personal data, including moving our network infrastructure and data center to a new, more secure location, which is already underway."

Sony writes that it still plans to have its PlayStation Network back online by next week, offering the caveat "we want to be very clear that we will only restore operations when we are confident that the network is secure."

For PSN account holders who may be concerned about the damage already done to their personal information or credit cards, Sony offers the following updates.

On the safety of your personal and financial information...

The entire credit card table was encrypted and we have no evidence that credit card data was taken. The personal data table, which is a separate data set, was not encrypted, but was, of course, behind a very sophisticated security system that was breached in a malicious attack.

On the credit card details that PlayStation Network and Qriocity do and do not store...

While all credit card information stored in our systems is encrypted and there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained. Keep in mind, however that your credit card security code (sometimes called a CVC or CSC number) has not been obtained because we never requested it from anyone who has joined the PlayStation Network or Qriocity, and is therefore not stored anywhere in our system.

Additional details (and what appears to be bordering on an apology) can be found at the PlayStation.blog.

Best Dr. Steve Brule Mix Ever Ya Dingus

nice

he's back

Tuesday afternoon in Hollywood, movie studios are bidding on a the rights to an as-yet-unwritten movie that would have Arnold Schwarzenegger return as the Terminator in a film directed by Justin Lin. According to Deadline, the package has several studios – including Universal, Sony and Lionsgate – salivating, even though it carries a hefty price tag of at least $25 million upfront against a purchase price around $36 million.

Basically this means that once a studio pays a hefty sum for the rights to this project, a fifth Terminator film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by Justin Lin is around the corner.

Deadline broke the news of this deal. They say a screenwriter has not yet been attached, which is odd as Chris Morgan had originally been attached and there’s a treatment laying around by original Terminator co-creator William Wisher.

Lin talked about the film recently and confirmed that he had talked to Schwarzenegger about it:

I think one of the great things is that when I got started, no one would return my calls, and now I get a lot of phone calls, which is good. I have options. Terminator was one of my favorite films growing up. And I feel I have a take that I would love to see, and I’ve talked with Arnold and we’ve talked and we’ll see. Again, I would love to do it, but it has to be the right circumstances. It has to be the right people. And there’s other projects too. But I’m in a position now that I can choose more than I could a year ago, two years ago. So that is something that is potentially in my future, but when I get home I will sit down and look at my options and choose what I want to do.

And now, based on the international success of Fast Five, and its impending success here in the States, it seems like Lin has the correct clout to get this done.

As for Schwarzenegger, we knew he was considering a lot of roles, including The Last Stand, but his commitment to this project would surely be the kind of mega-blockbuster comeback he’s surely looking for.

"Magic Man" -- a bad lip reading of Ludacris and The Bee Gees

Yeah, I'm the Magic Man at the Magic School
I rescued 17 chickens one day
I'm the Magic Man, got a magic goose
Them chickens do stuff I can't explain to you

My life is a macaroni dream
Little white mouses crawl in my bed
I'm the Magic Man
For real though
I know karate and definitely used it on a
Low ridin' hobbit on my mountain
I said "You know what, this ain't right"
And then he farted
And I was like "Damn, son, sh** is rude
It's my mountain. You wanna pass gas you can go on home."

Hey, hey hey - get me a windmill.
Julian!
Why don't you go decorate a pie?

Aww naw, look out y'all, it's the Bee Gees!

I'm the Magic Man at the Magic School
Loan me a dragon, I wanna see space
The Magic Man, got a magic goose
No hobbit ever better disrespect my mountain

This hobbit I knew pissed off a homeboy
And the bitch shot him two times -- bang! -- on his mountain
And I had to break it to his son
We took a ring from the guy's finger
It brought us 200 bills
I flew to Cuba, he flew to Mexico

I ain't shoot ANYthing
Man, that's crazy!
You lookin' for a ghetto hobbit with a uzi

I'm the Magic Man at the Magic School
There's a gremlin walkin' on my sidewalk
I'm the Magic Man, got a Magic Goose
Micro-tape
True ninja.
Magic Man at the Magic School
Yeah, I ain't see no hobbits in Star Wars
I'm the Magic Man, got a Magic Goose
Gang Fight!!

My niece had a Shih Tzu
But she don't have it no more
It bit Jolly June the humpback up on her hump
Spank my wood
Till I bleed
Or so that I scream
"Soufflé!"
Oh my God, there's a tissue in my Chevy, homeboy
I wanna touch your booty
FLIRT!
MILF!

I got a fluffy shirt.

Кот смотрит телик :)))

Very UNLUCKY!

PlayStation Hacker Geohot Settles with Sony Computer Entertainment America

Hacker George "Geohot" Hotz, the man who Sony accused of cracking the PlayStation 3 security, has settled with Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). According to a statement issued by SCEA, Hotz has "consented to a permanent injunction" against the information published by Hotz.

While full details of the settlement are not yet available, it's hard to parse this as anything but a win for Hotz, who simply has to refrain from publishing information that is already broadly reproduced elsewhere on the internet. Sony, by not going to court, does not have to risk a protracted and ugly trial against a customer.
